How ToWhat are icons/avatars?
Icons, also known as avatars, are simply images (usually no bigger than 100x100 pixels) that people use on things like forums/message boards, instant messenger programs, and blogging sites such as LiveJournal. You can use them to express your interests and personality, and they can also make you more distinguishable. They are fun to use! How do I use them?
Since I do not allow direct linking from my site, you must first save them to your computer's hard drive. To do this hover your mouse cursor over the icon/avatar you wish to use and right click. From the menu select "Save Picture As..." (in IE - if you use another browser, there should be an option very similiar to this), and then find the folder you wish to put it in, rename it if you want and click "Save". Now you need to follow one of the following sets of instructions to use them in various different ways... Forum/MB
Firstly, go to your avatar settings in your control panel at the forum/MB where you want to use the icon/avatar. If you can upload an image from your computer, do that. If you are not allowed to do this, you will need to upload the image to somewhere you can direct link it from. If you do not have a site that you can direct link from, I suggest using a service such as Photobucket. Upload the image either to your site that allows direct linking or a service such as Photobucket and then find the URL to the image. It will look something like http://www.domainname.com/avatar.jpg. Copy that, and then go back to your avatar settings at the forum/MB and paste it into the correct place to link to an external file. Save your settings and you should be sorted! You should now see a preview of it and its name in the window on the left. Click on it and then click "OK", and you're done! Yahoo! Messenger (Latest version)
